Student Organization for Animal Rights
SOAR was formed March 29, 1999 because of a growing need to educate the students of the University of Utah about the atrocities that animals face in the fur trade, entertainment business, factory farming, and scientific laboratories. The primary objective of SOAR is to teach people that it is both easy and necessary to adopt a lifestyle that does not advocate the needless murder and torture of animals. Our secondary objective is to protect animals from unnecessary torture and/or murder by any means necessary. These means will never include violence, however. SOAR will adhere to a strict non-violent policy of action.
