Primate Rescue Center
Our organization is dedicated to alleviating the suffering of primates wherever it occurs. Our on site work involves the operation of a large sanctuary with a population of 11 chimps, 2 siamang gibbons and over forty monkeys. We also coordinate rescue and recovery missions of primates from across the country.

Detailed Information:
The Primate Rescue Center has roots reaching back to 1987 when the founders first became aware of the glut of unwanted primates, from zoos laboratories and private owners, and the lack of appropriate facilities able to provide lifetime care. Most of our residents are ex-pets that inevitably become aggressive and unmanageable upon reaching adolescence. Most have suffered tremendously due to their owners' inability to provide an adequate environment. Unfortunately huge numbers of people are tricked into purchasing primates at high prices, only to be forced to give up their pet in a few years. We strive to educate the public about the unpleasant realities of primate ownership, combat the exotic animal trade and rescue suffering individuals.
