Detailed Information:
IOSF is based on the Isle of Skye (Scotland) which is fortunate to have a healthy population of the Eurasian Otter. Here we have our own otter hospital caring for injured and orphaned otters from all over Scotland and we also provide help and advice for others caring for otters all over the world. We are also involved in survey work to monitor the otter population in the Hebrides and have international projects in many countries including Vietnam, Turkey and Belarus. The project in Vietnam is with the Hairy Nosed Otter which was believed to be extinct in 1998 until an IOSF-supported project discovered three cubs in Thailand. These otters have now been found in Vietnam and also Cambodia.
