    Detailed Information:
GARP was formed in the spring of 2003 by a handful of local activists who believed Georgia would benefit from an organized, cohesive animal rights group. Within a few months, our membership grew to over 100 participants, and it continues to grow. Since our inception, we have held public meetings, and we have organized many demonstrations, tabling events and campaigns.

Our efforts focus on animal acts (i.e. circuses and rodeos), factory farming, hunting, fur, vivisection and Georgia animal cruelty laws. Our tactics include setting up information tables, making school presentations, leafleting, demonstrating, lobbying for stronger anti-cruelty legislation and speaking to the public through the media. In our efforts, we at GARP only utilize legal methods; we do not tolerate the use or discussion of violence. By organizing and working as a group, we are able to create change much more effectively than if we all act on our own: we are able to pool resources and support each other in order to reduce burnout.

GARP focuses on different issues at different times of the year. There is no fee for membership, and, as a member, you may choose when to participate and what to participate in. Event announcements are made by email. We hold regular meetings during which we discuss targeted issues and organize events/actions for the upcoming weeks.
