Detailed Information:
Since 1999, the German Society for Nature Conservation (NABU) has been organizing the conservation and law enforcement of snow leopards in Kyrgyzstan in an iternational project. The irbis is one of the three most endangered big cats worldwide, and is at home mainly in central Asia's mountain ranges. the greatest danger for its species is unrestrained poaching. In co-operation with the Kirghiz government and our special task force "Gruppa Bars", NABU has been quite successful in stemming illegal huntin and trading. On our website we present more detailled information on the project, on snow leopards as well as the latest news on the subject.
