Detailed Information:
This unique collaboration of professionals first came together in 2000 to discuss the problems inherent in Vermont's criminal justice system for animals, and to come up with some viable solutions. Just some of the issues that make conducting cruelty investigations difficult include the lack of mandated and standardized training for humane agents, vague animal cruelty laws, and the limited financial and human resources of animal shelters, municipalities, law enforcement agencies and state's attorneys.
The Task Force feels that only by working together can we effectively resolve animal cruelty complaints. We are dedicated to providing the resources and networking opportunities that the state's law enforcement, social service, veterinary and animal welfare communities need to work together for the betterment of Vermont's animal and human populations alike.
