The farm animal sanctuary movement provides life-long shelter for victims of "food animal" production, and in turn, the animals become ambassadors, effectively educating the public about the suffering associated with meat, dairy, and egg production. Through these rescue and education efforts, sanctuaries play a key role in changing the way society views and treats "food animals."
