Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA)
The ISPCA was set up in 1949 as "The central council for Irish SPCA's" which was later in the 1960's changed to the "Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals" (ISPCA).
We are the umbrella organisation for twenty four SPCA's all over Ireland who each individually work very hard for animal welfare in our country.
The ISPCA in June 2002 opened the doors to Irelands first National Animal Centre in Keenagh, Co. Longford, a €2.5 million project that was to challenge us in every way - mostly financially!
We could not have continued with our work without the support of Ireland's general public and the kindness of those who remembered the ISPCA in their Will's.
We have a long way to go and aim to build an education facility to educate the future of animal welfare - our children!
