Protect Our Earth’s Treasures (P.O.E.T.)
From it’s founding in 1984, Protect Our Earth’s Treasures has set as its goal to inform and educate the public on the topic of animal exploitation. Our grass-roots organization came into being following a night vigil at The Ohio State University’s College of Dentistry. P.O.E.T. had been contacted and told an alarming story of a “tooth- movement” experiment involving cats and improper anesthesia dosages. It became clear, as the case unfolded, that research animals at OSU, and other lab facilities in central Ohio, had no advocate. POET and our newsletter POET Notes was created to fill the void. Since that time, our scope has expanded to include activism in all areas of animal use and abuse.
