Massachusetts Turtle Rescue, Inc.
Massachusetts Turtle Rescue, Inc., is incorporated under the State of Massachusetts Department of Corporations (General Laws, Chapter 180), and is recognized by the Federal Government as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation.
Each year thousands of turtles and tortoises are captured for the pet trade. This together with habitat destruction or fragmentation, and commercial collection of the Southeast Asian species for the Chinese live-food markets has had a devastating effect of the wild populations. It is the hope of Massachusetts Turtle Rescue, Inc. through education and public awareness that one day the importation for the pet trade and the food markets will cease.
