The Northern Alberta Society for Animal Protection

NASAP is a registered Canadian charity and a non-profit society within Alberta. We are totally run by volunteers and depend on donations to keep doing our work of saving adoptable pets. Our volunteers are dedicated to reducing the use of euthanasia as a means to control the over population of adoptable pets. We actively practice and promote the use of spay and neuter. The only time NASAP has an animal euthanized is when it is advised by a Veterinarian due to serious injury, grave illnesses or behavior issues that pose a threat to human safety. The decision to euthanize is made by the Board of Directors on the advice of a Veterinarian.

We do not have a central location, but rather our foster homes take our animals into their homes and families, making the animal a part of the family. This way we get to know the animal and their personalities making it easier to find the right permanent home for them. NASAP is a non-militant, non partisan, non political organization which concerns itself solely with the welfare of our foster animals. We promote responsible pet ownership and work closely with other rescue organizations in Alberta and Canada. We do not have the jurisdiction to investigate alleged animal abuse situations, however we will refer such cases reported to us to the proper authorities. Any opinion expressed by one of our volunteers is not necessarily representative of the policies or practices of the society as a whole.
