    Detailed Information:
The Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, the UK, and Japan have already recognized that the line we have drawn between ourselves and the other great apes is illogical and indefensible, and have placed bans or severe restrictions on the use of chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas and orangutans for invasive experiments. The British Home Secretary, announcing the UK's policy in 1997, said that "this is a matter of morality. The cognitive and behavioral characteristics and qualities of these animals mean it is unethical to treat them as expendable for research."

The first place in the US to enact a ban on ape research should be Seattle.
