Detailed Information:
RSPCA Australia is the federal body of the eight state and territory Royal Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCAs) in Australia. The RSPCA Australia National Council is made up of two representatives from the governing councils of each member Society.
RSPCA Australia Policies are a collection of philosophical statements issued by RSPCA Australia on the proper use of animals by humans. The statements are adopted, or later amended, on the unanimous vote of the RSPCA National Council following consultation with member Society state councils by their National Councillors.
RSPCA Australia Position Papers, Guidelines and Codes of Practice are issued by the RSPCA National Council as explanatory documents. They are adopted, or later amended, on the majority vote of the RSPCA National Council. Policy Statements should therefore be read in conjunction with any relevant Position Paper, Guideline or Code of Practice.
All current RSPCA Australia Policy Statements and Position Papers are published annually.
