Helping Community Cat Workshops - The Metro Cat Action Team (MCAT)
The Metro Cat Action Team (MCAT) is a local program of Alley Cat Allies, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of feral cats, working with animal control to reform polices, and providing resources for thousands of individuals and organizations who care for these cats.
MCAT offers information on outdoor cats, and Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and instruction on how to operate a humane trap to catch a cat for spay/neuter and/or medical treatment.

MCAT holds monthly workshops at 7 pm on the second Wednesday of every month at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter in Fairfax, VA. The next dates are October 10; November 14; and December 12.
At the Helping Community Cats Workshop you will: • View a video about outdoor cats that illustrates humane trapping. • Learn about Trap-Neuter-Return and outdoor cat care. • See a humane box trap demonstration. • Meet other concerned citizens who can answer any questions, and give you tips on cat care and trapping. • Partner with experienced trappers who can accompany you for your first trapping.
The workshops are free, but reservations are required.
